Student-Athlete Medical Hardship/Mental Health Waiver

Thorough documentation with actual dates and clinical content are key to a Medical Hardship/Mental Health Waiver process.

 

Serenity Counseling & Resource Center, Inc. offers Medical Hardship/Mental Health Waiver service to Division 1 (D1) student-athletes seeking a waiver, based on clinical necessity, to try to become approved/eligible to play a sport for an additional year due to a mental health factor. We understand the significance of a student-athlete obtaining therapy/clinical services at the actual time that the student-athlete  encounters a mental health factor as well as the requirements needed for a Medical Hardship/Mental Health Waiver process.

 

Serenity Counseling & Resource Center, Inc. understands the concerns that student-athletes may have when seeking mental health services. We provide a supportive environment and use clinical tools necessary to help a student-athletes develop strategies to achieve mental well-being. We also understand the concerns of a student-athlete disclosing to a parent or coach or others about a mental health factor. We maintain confidentiality of information provided and will not disclose information to anyone unless the student-athlete authorizes the release of the information for the purposes of coordinating additional resources or submission for student-athlete eligibility purposes or for other relevant factors approved by the student-athlete.

 

With an approved Medical Hardship/Mental Health Waiver, some D1 student-athletes may qualify to be approved/eligible to continue their dream of playing a sport for an additional year in college. Some D1 student-athletes may also have the opportunity to use an additional year to excel higher on the court/field as well in the classroom than before to achieve optimal performance and success.
