Emotional Support Animal Service
Serenity Counseling & Resource Center, Inc. provides Emotional Support Animal Services (screenings and determination letters) with a specific focus to document reliable clinical information with integrity and ethical principles. We understand an emotional support animal—also called a therapy or comfort animal—is recognized legally as a “reasonable accommodation” for a person with a disability (physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities). We understand that an emotional support animal provides therapeutic benefits to its owner and may have a justifiable reason for its presence in housing and/or air travel settings. A licensed clinician will conduct a clinical interview and administer screening tools assessing six functioning domains to evaluate the legitimacy of a disability (mental impairment) and the necessity for an emotional support animal.
At the discretion of Serenity Counseling & Resource Center, Inc., a request/referral for Emotional Support Animal Service may be accepted/approved or not accepted/disapproved. A decision on a determination letter is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Serenity Counseling & Resource Center, Inc. provides Emotional Support Animal Services (screenings and determination letters) only to approved individuals residing in North Carolina.
